Back in action! And the way forward!

It is no secret that VideoPedia has been really inactive despite its promising start. It is also no secret that many of the articles are (of no ill intention) really poorly written, and poorly categorised.

From this day onward, we will begin fixing up the wiki to a presentable standard. The plan is as follows:

  • Creating a manual of style for Games, Consoles, Genres and Events
  • Adding all current articles on a to-do-list
  • Look at implementing gameplay or trophy/achievement guides within the wiki
  • Changing up the 'Cadbury' theme slightly, and getting a new logo

More ideas are also open.

Controversial Games?

Many are saying that games like GTA are "bad for kids" and are "teaching them bad things". Well, while that is true, we don't need to blame the game. We need to blame the individuals playing the game.

As humans, we choose what we do. We can choose to kill, to eat, or even to try and lose weight. Saying that it's the game's fault is like saying that the TV is directly resposible for causing terrorist attacks. It's not.

As a gamer, you have the liberty to choose what games you play. You alos have the liberty to choose what you take from that game. A 12-year old (hopefully) knows that what the main character is doing is wrong. We need to stop libing in the fantasy world that we have isolated ourselves in and wake up to the reality on the front do…

11 Days Till Xmas - Top Three 2017 Platformers (Starring Crash N.Sane Trilogy)

Christmas starts in 11 days. Since it is an occassion where people get presents, I just thought that I should make a list, where I put stuff on related to presents, which I am purposefully mistranslating as gifts, which in turn people like to buy for themselves, which in turn makes this list have some sense-ish.

In 2017 Vicarious Visions are going to release a compilation consisting of remastered versions of the first three games in the Crash Bandicoot series: Crash Bandicoot (1996), Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back (1997) and Crash Bandicoot: Warped (1998). It will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

Playtonic games are developing a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie (1998). Yooka-Laylee will be released on the 17th April 2017. It will be release…

(WIKI NEWS) Update on Main Page and CSS Fixes

There hasnt been any news on Wiki Updates in a while, as most efforts have been on adding articles. However, recently the Wiki Main Page has been changed, and the CSS has been edited. A full list of changes can be found here.

The things that haven't changed, but may appear to in the picture is the background colour (We are keeping that nice Cadbury/Thorntons looking theme) and the location of the Contribution Help Box. These appear o be different solely due to the presence and location of Advertisements. What are your thoughts on the updates?

(GAMING NEWS) The Great FPS War: Edition I

2016 is almost at a close, and has had some great First-Person Shooters released, from Overwatch, Titanfall 2, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1. Many others such as the new Deus Ex: Mankind Divided have been released, but have not been included to save space.

  • 1 Early 2016
  • 2 Games
    • 2.1 Overwatch
    • 2.2 Battlefield 1
    • 2.3 Titanfall 2
    • 2.4 Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
  • 3 VideoPedia FPS Medal 2016

Early on in the year, the reveal trailers for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1 were revealed on Youtube. The Infinite Warfare trailer was reviewed extremely negatively, with one of the main complaints were it being too futuristic (The past few editions in the series; Black Ops III, Advanced Warfare, Ghosts and Black Ops II all had futuris…

(GAMING NEWS) Why Pokémon Go, just why?

In my previous post, we looked at strangely placed Pokéstops and Gyms, ranging from places like Area 51, to Bosnian Minefields, to Holocaust Memorials and the Korean Demilitarized Zone. Today, we look at slightly stranger ones that made me thing "why..."

Yes, you read this correctly, there is a stop at a location named Invisible Playground. The description of the Pokéstop says Rumor is the playground disappeared in a flash. The image simply displays a slightly wooded area with a sign.

Unfortunately for sane people, this isnt fake. With the description Army retired it, a small artillery gun fixed onto a stone plate in a field has been given this bizarre name.

A statue of Jesus on a Cross, named as Cross Guy with the description of Statue on the So…

(GAMING NEWS) Theres a gym in the DMZ!

Recently, Pokémon Go has taken over the minds of humans, forcing them to actually get outside and walk.. Developed by Niantic, and using concepts from Ingress, the Augmented Reality videogame for Smartphones has taken the world by storm.

However, some people have found strange findings in the game, thay may seem rather peculiar. As you read the title of the blog post, expecting some North Korea incident, I will please you and begin with that first.

  • 1 Panmunjom Gym
  • 2 Findings at Area 51
  • 3 Bosnian Minefields
  • 4 Auschwitz-Birkenau Holocaust Museum
  • 5 Saudi Arabian Fatwa

Along the Korean Demilitarized Zone, created to separate two bitter rivals, the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea (North Korea) and the Republic of Korea (South Korea) from each other, a…

(GAMING NEWS) Crash Bandireboot

Crash Bandicoot began his adventure in 1996, and was last seen in the graveyard of fallen videogame franchises. Residents among the orange marsupial there included Spyro the Dragon, and E.T.

It was long thought that once you enter the grave, you never came out. This all changed in 2011, with the release of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. The Skylanders series became a spin-off of the Spyro series, with the Purple Dragon enjoying its second reboot.

In 2016, as part of another installment of the Skylanders Series, Crash Bandicoot is back. In a PlayStation 4 exclusive Starter-Pack for Skylanders: Imaginators, Crash Bandicoot is included as a character.

While exclusively sold for the PlayStation 4, the character is compatible with all versions of the …

"I find your lack of faith disturbing..." - New Badges!

In the last post, I informed you of how I have added some new features to the Wiki, including badges.

The default badges are what are seen on regular Wiki's. All you can really do with them is rename them and change the image, nothing else.

What I have done, is created two custom tracks. This allows the creation of new badges. The Tracks I have created so far apply to the Star Wars category, and the World War II category.

To earn these badges, you simply have to lots of edits in those categories.

I am simply testing out this feature, to see whether custom tracks would work for this wiki.

Of course, they wont be for specific things like Star Wars and WW2 Games, but for broader subjects, such as Homebrew, Consoles and Mods.

When I feel the time is…

"Testing 123", Oh, its already started!

Welcome to the Videogame-Database Wiki, a Wiki dedicated to preserving Videogames, Mods, consoles and Homebrew Software.

We differentiate ourselves from other similar Wiki's by allowing the addition of non-notable Mods and non-notable Homebrew games, such as Dino Smurf and Codename CURE.

Recently, I have disable Article Comments in favour of Talk Pages, as I find they are neater.

Also added, were a Badge System. I am adding this to add an incentive for people to contribute to the Wiki, because as of now, we have only 234 Articles.

Goodbye now! And carry on contributing!
